Crafted by Family. Built on Character. Carried by Heart.

Where it All Began

Camden didn’t begin with a business plan. It began with passion and a man with an eye for quality. John Moore started trading in fireplaces, furniture, and cast iron from a small back lane workshop. He had a gift for spotting the special pieces and a reputation that grew by word of mouth. Soon, customers were travelling from all over to see “The Warehouse” - chaotic, friendly, hands-on, and honest.

Among his many ventures in those early days, John also opened a shop in Camden Lock, London, an antique and fireplace centre that ran successfully for many years. It was full of character and charm, drawing in a different crowd but built on the same values: quality, authenticity, and good honest graft.

Warehouse Years

John brought more than just stock into Camden. He brought spirit. With his cheeky grin, wheeler-dealer charm, and willingness to help anyone, he made every visitor feel like part of the story. Soon came dipping tanks and furniture stripping - which led to a new obsession: restoration.

Sanding, waxing, buffing, colour matching - all done by hand and by heart. Sons, daughters, grandchildren, in-laws and friends rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in. Hard work? Absolutely. But bringing tired old pieces back to life, and seeing customers light up - that’s what made it all worth it.

Family at the Core

Camden has always been a family business in every sense of the word. Some of the brothers and sisters stayed with the business for more than two decades - houlder to shoulder through the graft and the growth.

Over the years, many friends, extended family and close-knit individuals also became essential parts of the team. Some went on to launch their own ventures, even within the fireplace world, but their Camden roots ran deep.

Growth and Legacy

As the fireplace industry boomed, Camden grew alongside it. We’ve built strong relationships with over 30 UK suppliers - many of whom we still work with today.

Fifteen years ago, John’s son Jon stepped up to lead the business. John senior never strayed far, popping in regularly to check up, share stories, and proudly watch what he started continue to thrive.

Camden Today

While restoration was once at the heart of Camden’s work, times and tastes have changed. As demand shifted, so did we.

Today, Camden focuses entirely on fireplaces: gas, electric and solid fuel setups, along with bespoke media walls that bring warmth, function and style into modern homes.

We no longer restore furniture, but our hands-on approach is as strong as ever. From design inspiration to installation, we help customers create spaces that feel just right for them.

Working closely with trusted suppliers across the UK, we have access to an extensive range of designs and products. Whether it’s a traditional hearth or a sleek, contemporary centrepiece, we guide customers through every stage, helping them find not just what they want, but what they didn’t even know they could have.

At the heart of it all is our close-knit team. We hold customer service above everything, offering friendly, flexible, approachable support with a smile. We’ll always go the extra mile (or three) to make sure every customer feels looked after, listened to, and right at home.

Still Camden. Always Camden.

Today, Camden is led by Jon, alongside his family and a close-knit team of dedicated employees. They may not all share a surname, but they share the same heart.

We’re proud to be what we’ve always been:

A place of character, warmth, and craft.
A business built by family, sustained by community, and trusted by generations.

And at our centre, still and always - the heart John gave us all.
